Bucket List Challenge

TO ENCOURAGE CHILDREN TO EXPERIENCE THE WORLD AROUND THEM

We are always working on building growth mind-sets within our children to support them with being more resilient when taking on new challenges within school and therefore more able to cope with failure. A growth mind-set will help our children to persist at things they find difficult and in time reduce their fear of failure, both of which are things which can be significant barriers to achieving dreams and aspirations.

To develop this to the next stage we have devised the ‘Libra Bucket List’ of challenges for each year group. These challenges are wide ranging, but all have the same focus to develop confidence, resilience and self-esteem in a fun way. These are challenges that are designed to be done with parent and carer support during the holidays which also helps to keep children occupied!

Our Libra bucket lists are year group challenges and experiences that have been planned to inspire parents and carers to allow their children to experience situations and activities where there is some risk and challenge. The aim is to encourage children to experience the world around them more and motivate them to engage with fun, wild and wacky experiences. In today’s world children are bombarded with information technology and mature content. We want to inspire our families to support their children to be children. This will also strengthen family bonds which can be fragile because of the behaviours that the children can present at home.

Experiences are without a shadow of a doubt as important to a child’s learning and understanding as sitting within a classroom listening to a teacher and other students. . The purpose of these bucket lists is to give children the chance to try things out, to see and do things that they wouldn’t normally do and to share these experiences outside of school in the local community alongside their parents and carers.
