Parent Information

School uniform is an essential part of the ethos of the Libra School. It:

• Promotes a school identity and a sense of belonging
• Promotes equality and avoids identification of socio-economic background
• Encourages pride in children’s own appearance
• Reinforces the high standards of the Libra School

It is extremely important that all children and parents abide by the school uniform expectations to ensure equality for all children and to avoid conflict and frustration from children when they see others not wearing correct uniform. For some parents and carers supporting their child to wear uniform can often be a challenge. We ask parents and carers to take this challenge on. If in having done so you have been unsuccessful, please send in the required uniform in a bag with your child and call the office to explain the situation. We can then sort the situation within school.

The school uniform requirements are:

Provided by Parents/Carers (please label as much of your child’s belongings as possible):

• Grey Trousers, shorts or skirts (to the knee) – please ensure that trousers fit in length as well as around the waist
• Blue and white summer school dress
• Black school shoes with covered in toes for boys and girls – no trainers or coloured markings on the shoes at all please. Black leather shoes which look like trainers but are not are okay as long as there are no other markings on them please. Lace up boots are okay as long as the laces are black and trousers are of the correct length to hide most of the boot
• Black socks or tights
• A waterproof thick winter coat, woolly hat and gloves
• A set of old clothes for outdoor educational trips and forest school, including waterproof over trousers and coat – on Forest school days children can come into school in these clothes with their wellies, waterproof trousers and coat and gloves etc. in a rucksack
• A pair of wellington boots
• Pair of trainers which will remain in school for PE – please label clearly (we provide PE kit but if your child prefers their own it is navy shorts, navy jogging bottoms, socks and a red t-shirt – no logos on any of the clothing please)
• Any spare clothing if required such as pants and trousers etc.
• Jewellery – watch only and stud only earrings
• Hair – long hair (shoulder length) must be tied back, no shaved heads please.

The remaining uniform we provide through the school office at a subsidised cost:

• Red school polo shirt
• Navy blue sweatshirt
• Navy blue/ Green outside fleece

Unfortunately, from September 2025 we will only be able to continue subsidising uniform for parents / carers who have a free school meals assessment. The full cost of the uniform items can be seen below.
