MANAGING RISK TO ENSURE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT BUT A FUN AND CHALLENGING CURRICULUM

Our overriding aim is to ensure that we provide an environment for the children that is safe and a curriculum that is inventive, fun and challenging where children can have opportunities to experience risk safely. To ensure that we can do this we have in place:

  • Policies and procedures that are extremely detailed, updated regularly and communicated to school adults.
  • Good quality training for our school adults, starting with induction training, followed by regular CPD and annual refresher training
  • Detailed relational support plans to support school adults with really detailed information about a child to help them know and understand the child.
  • Detailed risk assessments for each child to ensure that all school adults are aware of children’s behaviour and the risk that they can be to others when dysregulated.
  • Good quality risk assessments for every environment and activity which are reviewed regularly to ensure pertinence
  • Rigorous and effective safeguarding procedures
  • Checks on the suitability of our adults are extremely thorough and monitored very closely for changing legislation
  • Good working in partnership relationships with other agencies
  • Staff resilience so we can dogmatically chase external agencies to improve outcomes for children and their families
